Pintsized Princess and Baby Pink Pouts!

Good morning bloggers and welcome to the weekend! As the end of October draws near, we enter the festive season where social mixers and soirees are abundant with cheer! (With rhyming skills like these, I could be the next Dr. Seuss :S)Therefore, it is only appropriate that for the next month I will try to include as many postings dedicated to hair, makeup and fashion lookbooks, to prepare you for an amazing social summer!

Last night, I had the pleasure of dining with a dear friend who I will introduce to you a little later in this posting. A dinner date is the perfect excuse to start exploring new hair styles. Right now I'm really into styles that sit sleek around my face and are drawn into a messy, volumised ponytail or bun. 50 bobby pins later, I secured my hair into a variation of the ballerina bun, a hairstyle perfect for showing off a backless number. This hairstyle was achieved by parting my hair into sections and winding each section in a circular direction.

As you've probably noticed from previous postings, my latest makeup obsession features a baby pink lip stain from Revlon, teamed with bronze eye dust. After countless lashings of a volumising mascara and coral bronzing beads on the cheeks, I am ready to shine in the light of the silvery moon! Warning: this doe-eyed Bambi look is definitely NOT the expression to go for in photographs. This is simply to help you see the application, colour, texture and other finer details of my eye shadow.

Secondly I’d like to draw your attention to one of my favourite accessories at the moment! My pintsized, precious friend Miss Alice! 5, 1 in statue, this stunning creature proves that good things come in small, petite packages. Spending time with Alice is a breath of positive energy and an inspiration to my wardrobe. As long as I've known Alice she has always had killer taste in fashion and shoes hot enough to spark some serious style envy!

Here we are after a night of fine dining at the Groove Train in the city. Looking fabulous Alice!

Girls, find some time over this lovely weekend to surround yourself with a lady friend for some much needed girl time! There's nothing I enjoy more than to dish the dirt with a babyg! This is one Polly Pocket I'm keeping close!

Love to all my friends, family and fellow fashionistas! Leave me a love note or contact me via my NEW official facebook page.

Dedicated to the one I love...Ed Hardy

Led Zeppelin once began a song with, "There's a lady who's sure, all that glitters is gold" and to finish the lyrics myself, I would say, "and she's buying the sparkle from Ed Hardy".

Ed Hardy sparks the collaboration of highly artistic tattoo artist, Don Ed Hardy and fashion fanatic, designer Christian Audigier. Together, the creative coupling have produced an international label known for its tattoo fashion design, rhinestone emblazed tees, caps, hoodies and accessories. More than just a fashion label, Ed Hardy has shaped the fusion of fashion with tattoo art. Boasting bold colours and crystallised texture, Ed Hardy features a variety of designs that cater for any age group and both male and female fashionista’s alike. Now the soul purpose for this posting...

Today I am most excited to share with you my newest purchase and yes you guessed it, an authentic Ed Hardy treasure!

Rocking the rhinestone this season, this particular print features a rhinestone design with an iconic Ed Hardy rose and the phrase "Dedicated to the one I love". The stone colour is not only flattering to any complexion but is highly versatile and can be worn with a variety of outfits. At the moment I have teamed this hot accessory with a plain white tee and light denim jeans. Casual, and yet highlights my new accessory!

Lastly, Ed Hardy cannot be worn without a rock star attitude...

Hooked? Ready to find yourself some serious bling? Head on over to the Ed Hardy website and check out their selection of hats right here.

I welcome your thoughts fashionable friends!
Love always,

Mash Up!

It's been a while since I've uploaded something musical! I have compiled a mash up of two of my favourite love songs, Sixpence None The Richer's Kiss Me & Madonna's Crazy For You. Today I dedicate this performance to each and every one of my faithful followers! Your support and comments mean the world to me and without you I’d be one very lonely barbie!

Love and kisses to you all, and may you have a lovely day!

Treasure Trove in Paddington

A few weeks ago I stumbled across the quaintest little fashion hotspot - a high end label op shop in Paddington. From sequins to Chantilly lace, this little boutique featured impeccable fashion from just about any decade. I sadly, cannot publish the name of the store, as there were signs plastered all over the front window prohibiting the use of photography. In saying that, my sneaky camera skills were less than discreet, and were the result of my speedy exit. Before I "left", I managed to capture a few shots of my favourite little numbers. I particularly love the Pride and Prejudice inspired gown, although its $650 price tag was a tad excessive.

Calico Brides down the Runway...

This weekend promoted a very important fashion event of the season, The Queensland Brides Wedding Expo 2011. Held at the Brisbane Convention Centre, this event is hosted by leading wedding magazine, Queensland Brides and features over 160 stalls of wedding bliss! The highlight of this event is certainly the fashion runway show which showcases the work of both professional and student fashion designers. This leads me to the subject of this fashion post.. Bloggers, I introduce you to my designer pal (and dear friend), Brooke Campbell.

Outfit styled and photographed by Brooke’s friend, Alyssa Ilyhanti.

Don't let her babyface deceive you, this young, 20 year old Brisbane Fashionista will one day be acclaimed as a top Australian Designer, known for her cutting edge style. Brooke currently studies at the Australian Institute of Fashion Design, Brisbane Campus. A few months ago Brooke asked me to model her end of year assessment piece, a calico wedding dress featured in the Calico Brides competition at the Queensland Brides Wedding Expo. I gladly accepted this exciting opportunity and knew even before I saw the design that Brooke would envision a one of a kind dress. The gown, entitled Delirium, was inspired by the movie Heavenly Creatures, features an A line, asymmetrical skirt, ruffled train and a distinctive hood-like veil. Would you believe this dress was constructed from bleached calico and organdie fabric?

Myself and the leading lady designer, Brooke...xo

The entire look projected Brooke's playful and creative nature, right down to her innovative hair design and dramatic makeup.

Hair styled by Chelsea of Hairy Tales, Nundah.
Make Up by Napoleon, Carindale.

And finally, some fun on the runway! Was it scary you ask? Yes! But would I do it again? Of course I would! Wearing Brooke's custom - made, one of a kind wedding dress, made me feel as if I was a small, intricate part within the aesthetics of fashion. While there were no wardrobe malfunctions to report on, this cut-throat industry continues to produce aspiring fashion thinkers and fashionistas, a talent that will never date!

A special thank you goes out to Brooke, thank you for believing in me enough to breathe life into your dress on the runway. Your creativity is a gift which will only flourish as you continue to grow and develop into the beautiful fashion icon that you already are!

Tik Tok Drum Cover, Tik Tok BOOOM!

An interesting change to break the fashion routine! Being a trained musician I am always on the lookout for talent to inspire me to stop spending and start playing my beloved (but slightly dusty) instruments! Last night, I experienced inspiration that had me lost for words. My current school's extension concert showcased a young drummer boy who performed an explosive drum solo cover of Ke$ha's Tick Tock. A perfected and flawless performance! While this youtube clip is NOT the student I am referring to, it features another young musician and another dynamic performance. What do you think bloggers, is Cobus Potgieter a babe or what? Some people are just so musically talented!

Red Death!

In a world of colour and a season of colour blocking, there is no better time to spritz up an outfit with a splash of red. I am strictly talking about hot red accessories that make an outfit memorable! Daring to be noticed, I decided I would play the scarlet lady and paint the town red in my last season Wayne Cooper dress.

Dress: Wayne Cooper
Shoes: Corelli
Necklace: Jamb Boutique
Bracelet: Forever 21
Clutch: Prada
Watch: Guess
Lipstick: Revlon

Teaming the dress with a matching shade of dazzling red Revlon lipstick worked like a treat, as I was greeted with an abundance of compliments throughout the night. Here are some other red treasures I came across! Whether you’re pale, tan, dark, brunette, blonde etc, ladies don't be afraid to regress to Lady Macbeth!

All images have been sourced from various tumblrs found on we heart it.

Love it or loathe it, let me know what you think.
You know where to find me bloggers, in the fashion playground!
Yours truly,
Professor Barbie
